Dr. Arlisa S. Carey is a dedicated, enterprising, results-oriented, innovative leader specializing in change management, data analysis, and strategic planning. Arlisa has worked at all levels (elementary to district office) within the North Carolina public school system serving as a teacher, curriculum facilitator, intern, and administrator. She has been instrumental in defined school growth in each division through her copious knowledge of curriculum development through research-based 21st century pedagogical practices and professional development. Arlisa has extensive experience with conflict resolution and relationship-building to garner vital partnerships within total school communities. She is an avid reader and student of continuous learning who has a deep commitment and passion for social justice, equity, and cultural competence to promote a democratic society of life-long learners.

Experienced Federal Programs leader with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Skilled in continuous improvement processes, professional development design, School Improvement Plan progress monitoring, federal programs compliance and budgeting, instructional coaching, educational assessment, and educational consulting. Dedicated and passionate professional with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) focused in Educational Leadership and an Educational Policy Fellow.

Dr. Kari Stubbs is an internationally recognized ambassador for the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Most recently, Kari joined the team at Stages Learning, the authority in Autism education, as the Vice President of Brand Strategy and Industry Alliances. Her dedication to education extends to service on multiple boards including SXSWedu, Digital Promise’s EdCamp, Kipp Academy in Kansas City, and previously ISTE and the Horizon K12 Report. Kari has presented extensively on education topics across the United States and around the globe from Shanghai and Abu Dhabi to Sydney, Prague, and beyond. She’s received the Making it Happen Award, was recognized as 20 to Watch, and Microsoft’s Education VP twice named her a Global Hero in Education. Kari earned her PhD in Curriculum with a minor in Administration from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Ray’s career includes designing technology within the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and directing technology research through Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Science Outreach programs and Johns Hopkins University. As a district administrator for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, she led the award-winning design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional technology programs including instructional design for online and blended learning environments, redesigning physical learning environments, establishing the virtual high school, and redefining school libraries. Dr. Ray is published and recognized internationally for her work in online and blended learning as well as flexible learning environments.

Marlo Gaddis is the Chief Technology Officer for the Wake County Public School System. She served three other NC Districts of various sizes in the past as 21st Century Learning Coordinator, Lead Teacher for Technology (K-5) and Media (K-12); Lead Teacher for Math, Science, Social Studies and Technology (K-5); district and school Technology Facilitator; and Kindergarten and First Grade teacher. Marlo serves on K12 Education Advisory Boards for the RTM K-12 Congress, Lenovo and IMS Global. She is on the Board of Directors for CoSN (Consortium of School Networking) and serves on the Executive Board as Secretary. She is a founding member and board member of the NC CoSN (Consortium of School Networking) chapter and a CoSN CETL (Certified Educational Technology Leader).

With over 28 years as an educator, Dr. Cox is currently the Executive Director of North Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (NCASCD) and the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium (PTEC), one of eight regional educational service agencies in North Carolina. She is a former district superintendent, central office administrator, elementary, middle, and high school principal and teacher. She is the owner and founder of WE LEAD (Women in Educational Leadership) which provides opportunities for female educators to find support and growth throughout their professional journeys. For her work with female leaders and for the creation of WE LEAD, Dr. Cox was awarded the AASA 2021 Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award. She also supports educators by serving on several higher education boards and enjoys living in Charlotte, NC.

After earning the Morehead Scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill, Jim began his teaching career as an English teacher and coach in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. His first administrative position was as an assistant principal in an alternative school in Winston. While working 16 years in Wake County he served as Assistant Principal, Director, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Associate Superintendent for Administration, and Chief Finance Officer. Dr. Merrill has served three school districts as superintendent: Alamance-Burlington Schools, Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and Wake County Public Schools. He was named superintendent of the year twice for the state of North Carolina and once for the state of Virginia. He was recognized by UNC Greensboro’s School of Education for the Outstanding Achievement Award, and by UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Education for the Distinguished Leadership Award. Since retiring from the Wake County Public Schools he has served as Interim Superintendent on two six month contracts for the Wayne county Schools (Goldsboro), and the Alamance Burlington Schools.
